Trim failure
« on: August 07, 2018, 09:37:34 AM »
V27.0x64 27-Feb-18
V25.2x64 18-Dec-15
Win 7 Pro 64

V24.1 21 Nov 14
V27.0 3-Nov-17
Win 10 home 64

Here is a simple file (see Trim failure.jpg) where I was trying to trim (Edit/Trim-Extend/Trim Two Lines) the two green lines. When I run the command I get the message:

"DCAD 3D Max x64
Command Failed!
There is no intersection between the two lines."

However, if I use "Point/Intersect 2" on the same lines the result is a point at the intersection of the lines. I used "Intersect 2" to create the blue line.

Anyone else see this problem?

The trim failure is caused by the free tangent not being in-plane with the other lines. If you zoom in on that line in the bottom left window you will see. See my attached image.

As to why the trim failed and the intersection worked is still a mystery (in 2d mode intersect-2 can intersect two non-planar lines so maybe it has a bit of tolerance in 3d mode).
