"ESD" =  "Electronic Software Distribution", ie, downloads (don't feel bad, I had to google it myself).

So did I!!
One meaning for ESD (which came up first in my search) is 'Eat Shit & Die' - I figured that couldn't be it so I kept looking...

BTW, IMHO the use of acronyms is becoming OTT & I'm SITD on what it all means!

Thank you !

OK, so as I understand, this is an updated full installation version : it's a good idea !

I thought an ESD was an "Educational Service District!" At least that is what it is here in Oregon.

One of the major obstacles to effective communication is believing that everyone else understands the meaning of words and acronyms the same as you do.

But, of course, not everyone does.

What's the difference in the EDS and and the update patch, and how do we use each?

I think the EDS is the fully up-to-date installer, for those who have not yet installed the app. The patch is just the updated stuff, for those who have already installed the app.

So if you have not installed yet, rather than downloading the original installer, installing that then downloading and running the patch, just download and install the EDS and you are up to date.

And if you have already installed, rather than reinstalling with the EDS and maybe have to go through the painful process of configuring everything again, just download and run the patch (not sure how on-point I am about the re-configuring stuff).

Way I see it, the fact that they make the EDS available means they have some consideration towards us users.

Thanks Lar!

The update went fine, but didn't address the 4K screen problem.  2018 can be run with a few problems when setting the resolution to 1920x1080 in Win 10.  The UI is still crude.

Regarding Hi_res (1920x1080, Win 10)

So far, I have not had any problems with my configuration. Is it possibly hardware settings/configuration?
My 1920x1080 just screams!
I have only a few min. each day to search posts, so I didn't find the post yet to refer the particular problem having 1920x1080 crudeness.
I prob'ly don't have the full scope of the situation (YET).  If someone would point it out me, I could evaluate the differences.

It seems some users are having more noticeable issues at  even higher resolutions such as 4K screens (3840 x 2160).

Read all about it here

I examined the posts from December 2010 from the link from Rob S.
Is the Icon size and text on/from the Icons all that seems to be the problem?
That's an easy fix. I like Icons 20,20.  But, I might need some kind of legal permission to give out the specifics.
Maybe not. I don't know. Better safe than sorry, Know what I mean?

Who could possibly object if you provide a solution for users which could make them more happy with the software they purchased????

Back in the DOS days, I edited one of the sys files in order to change default colors. Theoretically, I was violating the Copyright by editing the program itself.
