DT;

All of my Tiff files are in Black and White.

I am not sure what this means to me re the use of DC2016?

I was hoping for a fix where DC2016 could handle the same TIFFS that DC23 could handle (only better and faster!)

Depending on what it takes to fix this, we may issue a patch. I'll have to see what programming discovers.

Now fixed. Please see the News and Announcement board for details on the DesignCAD 3D Max 2016.2 update. If you're using the 2D-only version, we should have a patch for that available in a week or so.

Thanks for that. We do use 2D only so will wait for your next post announcing the update.

DT.

I downloaded the update for DesignCAD 2D. and it worked.... My tiff's are no longer deleted upon saving. Thanks

Now for the next problem. There still seems to be an issue handling these images in DC 2016.

My client is asking me to save my DCD files as DWG (export command). Here's what I did:
1. Export a DCD file that has a tiff to DWG file.
2. Open a clean/blank DC page and import the DWG file I just created (to check it) - and guess what! The tiff is gone!
3. I noticed in the directory where I saved the DWG there was a picture file created (*.jpg) with 0 size....
4. I repeated the process with DC23. At step 2, the tiff is still there!.... and in the directory now the *jpg file has an actual size in Kbytes...

Seems like another tweak to DC2016 is required?

I am very anxious to migrate to DC 2016 as it really is fast when handling documents with large images imported - a huge difference from DC23.

Hi John,

I've confirmed this with your scanned image you posted below. It seems to be a problem (again) with the overall size of the image. For the time being, can you perhaps scan to a lower resolution? If I reduced the image to half-size, it loaded, saved, and exported ok.

Hi DT

Unfortunately I cannot scan to a lower resolution, because then my data is not sufficiently sharp when I zoom in (for the types of image files I am importing).

Still hoping for another update!

Thanks

John
