3D CAD
« on: December 09, 2014, 10:28:36 AM »
Now this is a 3D CAD system! Check out that monitor - floor to ceiling. With stereo vision glasses you can really walk through the design!

This is being used in the construction of a new aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald Ford. CAD ship modeling at it's finest!

Wonder how soon DT and company can add this to DesignCAD?

Now this is a 3D CAD system!

And it looks like you can literally check if you hit your head on any pipes.
Agreed, that sure is a CAD system.

Reminds me of this comparison :)

That's not a knife!

Still, DCAD is great for smaller boats yes?

Technically, a 3D display shouldn't be hard.  It "just" requires two simultaneous viewpoints with unique colors.  The problem might lie in the video system where a lot of the display calculations happen within the video card itself, but I'm not an expert.  ::)
