DesignCAD Training Manuals
« on: March 15, 2014, 11:45:32 AM »
Over the years of me using DesignCAD, I created a number of training manuals. These manuals are now out of date in relation to DC versions we have, so I am going to go back through them all and update them to reflect the present commercial release. Unfortunately, these will now no longer be available for free, the cost I will need to work out. I will post some 'teaser' sections for you to view.
If you are interested in the new versions, please let me know.

Yes, pls let us know where we can find manuals.   Somewhere I read I could find an instruction pdf in the 3d folder, but can't seem to find it.

The Reference Manual is

DcadNN.pdf

and the Getting Started Guide is

DCADNN_GSG.pdf

where NN is the version of the program.

These files are in the folder where the program is installed.

Yep, can't find it.  I got my DesingCAD from the ContourCAM folks.  Looks like I didn't get the manual.  I'll contact them, but is it anywhere else I could get it ?  Anyway, still looking.

You will find the manual here: C drive, program files (x86) IMSIDesign, DesignCAD 3D Max 23. It is called Dcad23 and is a PDF file.

The cost for my training manuals are $US29.99

$30 Sounds reasonable.
Look forward to your teaser.
Might buy myself an early Xmas present :)

PS to be honest I haven't read that help file/manual ( 290 pages) since ...  before I lost my medium-term memory  (assuming I ever read it - doubtful)

edit - I assume this Help Manual is a recent addition ? - mine is signed by IMSI (and I have DCAD22.pdf and DCAD23.pdf - because I have both versions, 2 cents) - and I have no DCAD"nn".pdf  files where "nn" is less than 22 (although I have V12 and others in between .

I also find that there is a file DCAD22_GSG.pdf, (only 900kB and loadable) but no equivalent for V23 (?)

I have the standard update installed for me only, and I do find both manuals in the V23 program folder as per image enclosed below.

I also have all same for V21 and V22.  You could try searching your entire drive for these missing files if you want the complete collection.

Thanks Rob,  bound to be human error - with my home computer (this one) I am perfectly happy with V22, and obviously haven't installed V23 completely.  Cheers.   PS I'm told there's still a slight glow in the sky at 10:00pm these days in BC :)   Half your luck.

Yep, got it.  "C:\Program Files\IMSIDesign\DesignCAD 3D Max 23\DCAD23_GSG.pdf" .  I've got Windows 8.1 , and the install creates a shortcut too, but you need to search for it a bit , (in apps I think).

i will be posting some teasers this weekend.

I have not been round too much as I have been busy on other projects, but I have still eye balled here but not logged in, also not been getting notification to any posts I have made or contributed to, so I need to also spend some time going back a little.

Given you've been gone a while, and Lar has shown us his moves, we're expecting something really good.

I best see what he has been doing. I have also been spending a fair bit of my time on the 'dark side': TurboCAD LTE Pro 6, CREO2 and SolidWorks.

Scud,

I'm messing with you.  Lar posted a neat video. Those are the "moves" I'm referring to.  Check it out.
