The existing macro and ole help files are in .hlp format. They don't open on a Vista or Win 7 computer unless a program is downloaded from the Microsoft web site. Would it be possible to provide these files in the newer .chm format? TIA.

Look at the properties of the .chm file. If it is "blocked" then unblock it.

Also make sure that the file path does not contain #.

Uuum, he's looking for macros help, not system help.

Macros help has not been updated since V17, and is one of our bugfix items.

I'm hoping DT will get some time to do this for us, and if he does, I imagine it would come out in .chm format.

Unfortunately, to put the help files out in CHM format would require a drastic overhaul of the source documentation. Right now it's a big Word document with footnote-based jumps between topics. I have already tried making CHM files out of the existing documentation, but when I did so, ALL of the hyperlinks between topics were broken. So for the time being, the HLP format is going to be what y'all get when I get a chance to update the docs.

Sorry, dcadRob, CHM help is just going to have to wait for that mythical "spare time" I keep hearing so much about.

Updated macro help in any format will be most welcome!!

If you would be so kind as to publish a schedule of events of your typical day we'll be happy to point out which time periods can be classified as "spare time"

If you're unable to read the CHM file (as opposed to the HLP file), you may have to unblock the CHM file.

Right-click on the CHM file in the Windows Browser, and choose Properties. If there's an Unblock button at the bottom of the Properties page, click it, then Apply.
