Grant;

If you are in 2D mode and on the wrong plane setting, xz and not xy for example, you can go to Options/General and change the plane setting. You can chose to re-set it for this drawing only or set it to be the default each time Dcad starts

But if he had all drawed in XZ, he must all rotate before to change the plane setting, because if not, he will see just "a line" of all his drawing :

Select all (ctrl A), then go in 3D, then rotate (Edit/selection/Rotate or shortcut R) under X axis 90

Yes  i,m  back  to  my  old  tricks  again,
this  time  a  bigger  mess,   i,ve noticed  that the status  bar  turns  itself off  ,  (this  is  one  area i  get into  trouble)
don,t  know  why , it does that,  secondly while in 2D  at the top of the screen  which is  probably micosofts   area'
the 3D  status  bar is  not on but lurking in the  back  ground, it should not be there,(shaded  mode)
when  printing ,using  selection  ,copy, new  file ,  change  to  xy.  it does work , with most fonts, gone  ,  DIM   gone,
and  PAPERSPACE  say  scale  1:50 has  to be manipulated  to  1:47-8  or  over  1:55.
2xpages  get  printed   my  drawing and  a message ,
This  job requires  more memory than is  available in this printer.
For the output format, choose  OPTIMIZE  FOR  PORTABILITY.
In the  device settiings  page, make sure the  available post script  memory  is  accurate.
reduce the  number of  fonts in the document.
Print the document in  parts.    this  looks like the
NOW  IN THE USERS  REQUEST  FORUM ,  CHANGE  USERS @43#4!!11 UP WORKSPACE BUTTON  BACK  TO 2D  BUTTON.

grant f,

I can't follow some of your post. Is this all related somehow? Is it all in one drawing or multiple drawings?

What version of DesignCAD are you using, and what operating system (XP, Vista, 7)?

****

What "status bar" is turning off? The bar at the bottom of the DesignCAD window is the "Status Bar." Are you saying it is disappearing?

The Status Bar can be turned off and on with "View/Show-Hide." Check the "Status Bar" box and click the "Apply" button.

Occasionally things do disappear from the screen inexplicably. For me this is usually because I am working quickly and accidentally click in the wrong place or drag something off screen. To restore sanity, use the "Window/DesignCAD Tile" function. This will bring everything back. You can customize these settings.

****

You say in 2D mode the "3D status bar" is "lurking in the background." I think you mean that the "View Toolbox" is grayed out in 2D mode. Is this correct?

It does show "Front View" which is correct - 2D mode is the "Front" window - even though it is grayed out. This just means that you can't use 3D mode functions in 2D mode. There are several other grayed out functions in 2D mode.

You can turn this tool bar off in "View/Show-Hide."

While technically you are correct that it shouldn't show in 2D mode since it is non-functional, it would be a VERY bad thing to change tool bar settings every time you switch between 2D and 3D modes! I switch back and forth between 2D and 3D drawings frequently I want my tool bars to stay where I put them!

If some programmer changes this I will hunt him down and break his fingers!

****

If you are having problems printing because the printer doesn't have enough memory you can try changing the Windows print driver settings to "spool" in computer memory. Basically, this means to print the drawing to computer RAM first, and then send it line by line to the printer (spooling). This may be slower than printing directly to the printer (there will be a delay before printing starts until all the print job is "spooled") but it may work.

****

What is a "USERS @43#4!!11 UP WORKSPACE BUTTON?" Be more specific, we cannot read your mind.
