Im new to designcad I have bought v18.Now I have printed off parts of the tutorials for v14 Im using the 2-d floor plan to practice with. The problem Im having is in the dimensioning section. When I press the (period key) on the outside of the drawing it moves to the inside also when I double click so I can undo it, it puts wide black lines across the plan.
Im not very good with this stuff I bought this to help me draw floor plans and other woodworking projects.Any help would be GREAT. I know I'll need more as I go along.I can afford thew training cd right now.

1) You've posted this in the BasicCad section, which is for designcad's macro ( programming) language as in visual basic = basic cad.  I suspect you thought it was for beginner basics (NOT)

2) Pressing the period key is supposed to snap to and set a point at the nearest exisiting "point" in the drawing, so maybe it's doing what it's supposed to.

3) To place a dimension, you would use the period key for the first two points of the plan, being the distance you want, then you use a left-mouse click or "INS" key to set the alignment where the text should go, since there is no existing point to snap to.

4) Not sure what you mean by double-click to undo - normally if you double-click an existing entity, it should bring up info box, where you can edit such things as text size, color, layer, etc.

5) To learn how some things work, you can just open a blank drawing, draw some lines by clicking mouse, then try drawing using "point-relative" "single-quote" to set points at specific distances or co-ordinates. and get used to the "parallel by distance" line command, which I use more than anything.

So try that, and if you need more help, maybe start a new thread in the "looking for help" section of this forum.

The "Looking for help" section would have been more appropriate.  Explore the forum for the topics covered.  It won't bite.
