DesignCAD SDK downloads
« on: August 18, 2008, 11:33:26 AM »
The most current complete SDK compilation is for DesignCAD 3D Max 13. You can download the SDK installer here:

http://www.fyrissia.com/drolltroll/dcdevkit/DevKit13.exe
The full sdk contains documentation and sample programs for extending the capabilities of DesignCAD 3D Max 13. Despite the fact that it's old, most of the information herein is still relevant to current versions of DesignCAD. Note that the automation samples provided may have to be updated to point to the current type library, and will need the version number corrected
ex: change
"DesignCAD.Application.13"
to
"DesignCAD.Application.nn"
where nn is the DesignCAD version number on your system (14, 15, 16, 17,  or 18).

The documentation, and most of the sample programs target DesignCAD 3D Max. However you can also use BasicCAD and OLE Automation to control DesignCAD Express. A very few sample Automation programs are given specifically for Express.

More recent versions of the BasicCAD Help files can be found here:
http://www.fyrissia.com/drolltroll/dcdevkit/macros15.zip
http://www.fyrissia.com/drolltroll/dcdevkit/macros17.zip

A more recent build of the OLE Automation Help file can be found here:
http://www.fyrissia.com/drolltroll/dcdevkit/oledc17.zip

As more recent help files or full SDK compilations become available, this topic will be updated.

If you have questions or problems, please post them in one of the SDK boards on this forum.

Note: If you are using Windows Vista or later, you'll need to download and install an additional patch from Microsoft in order to read these HLP files. At the moment, you can obtain the download for your particular version of Windows on this page:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607

Follow the link for your version of windows, and download and install the support files for HLP help files.

Additional Note: Microsoft is officially no longer supporting HLP files with Windows 10. I have found that solution 1 on this page works ok for my systems:
https://appuals.com/how-to-read-hlp-files-in-windows-10/
This is not an official Microsoft solution, so I must warn you that you will be using this at your own risk, if you choose to install it.

Here are CHM conversions of the HLP files. They aren't perfect conversions, but they should work on Windows 10. See attachments below.
