Title: macros17.hlp in windows 10
Post by: Mark Laing on November 13, 2015, 10:20:45 AM
After a long absence I'm getting back into Designcad like I want to. I have windows ten and dcad 23. (upgrading soon). Windows doesn't want to run the file. The Microsoft file to make it go comes in every windows up to but not including windows ten. What do I do to get the help file back?
Wasn't there a .chm file somewhere that worked too? Or am I thinking of something else?

Sorry, Microsoft has posted WinHelp updates for Vista through 8.1 but not yet for Windows 10.

Unfortunately, it's a tremendous pain to properly reformat the existing HLP documentation to CHM format. I'll do it one of these days, but I haven't had the free time to do so just yet.

If people are still looking for the  HLP  file reader, this worked for me without any issues...

Enabling Winhlp in Windows 10

To enable Winhlp to work in Windows 10, follow these simple instructions.

Download the updated Winhlp32 installation files, which are compressed into a zip file (winhlp32-windows-7-10-x86-64.zip) from the following link:  https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_tSrOg4FLp1T0dyTEppaW9SYm8
Extract the contents of of the file you just downloaded (winhlp32-windows-7-10-x86-64.zip)
Run the Install.cmd as Administrator by right-clicking on Install.cmd, then select Run as Administrator.
Acknowledge any privilege warnings and allow Install.cmd to proceed.

That is all there is to it.  You now you have Winhlp working in windows 10!

This worked without issue on a Windows-10 Pro system as well as a windows-10 Personal system.
