Title: DesignCAD Version 18.1 Macro Help
Post by: Robert Willis on March 27, 2008, 10:36:48 PM
I am using a custom DesignCAD macro to batch export my DesignCAD symbols to AutoCAD. My previous version of the macro worked fine with DesignCAD Version 17.x. DesignCAD Version 18.1 does not operate correctly.

In DesignCAD Version 17.x, I used the DwgOut command with a Type = 6 for AutoCAD Version 14 compatibility. It looks like the correct option for DesignCAD Version 18.1 would be Type=3 base based on the AutoCAD version's that are supported in the pick list. Am I interperting this correctly?

From the Version 17.x BasicCAD Macro Reference.

>DwgOut

{

<Filename "drawingname.ext"
<Type t

[0-3=2004/2005/2006, 4=R11/R12, 5=R13, 6=R14, 7=2000, 8 and higher = R13] (Version 15 and higher)
[0 = 2.5, 1 = 2.6, 2=9.0, 3=10.0, 4=11.0, 5=13.0, 6=14.0, 7=2000, 8 and higher = R13] (Dcad14)
This parameter controls the version of DWG file that will be created.
Note: The results of the type parameter changed in version 15, and may change again without notice. You should periodically verify that your macros are exporting the correct dwg version.

Will there be a updated document for DesignCAD Version 18.x ??

Current type settings for V18 are:
[0=R12, 1=R13, 2=R14, 3=2000, 4=2004, 5=2007, all other values save to 2004]

I'm trying to update the macro docs (at least) to V18, but my hours are spread all too thin these days.

If in doubt about your exported dwg version, open the file in a text editor.
Near the top of the file you'll see one of the following ACnnnn strings:
AC1009    this corresponds to R 12 format
AC1012    this corresponds to R 13 format
AC1014    this corresponds to R 14 format
AC1015    this corresponds to 2000 format
AC1018    this corresponds to 2004 format
AC1021    this corresponds to 2007 format

I'm back ..............

I am updating the custom DesignCAD macro that I use to batch convert from DesignCAD to various versions of AutoCAD. DesignCAD 2016 now includes the option to export to AutoCAD version 2010 and 2013.

1. What is the AutoCAD identifier of version 2010 and 2013? I think they are AC2014 for 2010 and AC1027 for 2013.

2. What is the proper file type identifier to select when using the export command in a macro? I think they are File Type = 6 for 2010 and File Type = 7 for 2013.

I am still enjoying working with DesignCAD and have been since the early ProDesign days.

You can determine more detail about which version of AutoCAD saved a dwg file as described in this article:

The supported values to specify the target AutoCAD version are [7=2013, 6=2010, 5=2007, 4 = 2004, 3 =
2000, 2 = R14, 1 = R13, 0=R12]
